Just bought some snows to mix in with my canada's.Do you guys mix
your decoys Have you had good resaults. Do you mix them right in with the canada's or off to the side. DO you spread them out or keep them in a tight group.

Well sometimes in the lmid season I'll mix afew snows in with the Honkers. Its maybe 5 or so though. Not saying that really does work. Also down here on the Platte the ducks always see Honkers and Mallard decoys. there's alot of peeps that hunt it! Last year, my Hunting Partner and I used a spread of Snows and Mallards! It was middle of the season and the birds we had, had been getting beat up on for a while and no one had really been shooting any birds. That day we shot them up!!! So i think some times outta the ordanary stuff helps!!!!

Depends upon the situation, if your hunting a field that had 10,000 snows and 200 honkers. Then I would put mostly snows with a few honk dekes.

If your hunting canadas, and maybe there are some snows around, or you just want a different look for some confidence.

I would just use a few, and put them behind the spread. If you are sitting in your layout blind facing the landing zone, then put them in a cluster behind you type of deal.

What that does is keep the snow dekes out of the landing zone, as not to interfere with incoming canadas, but keeps the snows flying right over you to land, or lining them up right in the center.

Big canadas don't generally like snows, but little ones will, so it can be a shaky situation.

I have always had probs with mixing honkers and snows.Thats probably because we have big geese,with very few lessers. But the mallards and the snows work awesome,they can see you for miles!

The fields are full of canadas and snows here now. As they stop over for about five weeks on ther way north. There mixed together pretty good now is that just a spring thing they do looking for food in the same fields.

I do a lot of scouting. when i see fields with a mix of snow and cans i watch them and see how they sit. try to copy that. I have found that when there are just a few snows that they will mix in. When there are alot of snow they will ususally keep to themselves, but on occasion they will mix in with small cans. The bigger honkers will not usually mix with the snow.
For me snows are usually around early and then again late in the season, so in these times i will mix a couple 6-12 snows in . i like to put them away from the blinds and in small little groups spread throughout the spread. like a pair here and a group of 4, 15 yards away. my theory is, is when the cans come in the focus more on the snow geese and takes there eyes off of the blinds.. I dont know if this is true but is has seemed to work.
